Thamboola is the Sanskrit term for betel leaves. Chewing of betel leaves is prescribed as a part of oral hygiene by Ayurveda. It probably boils down to its anti-microbial properties. Thamboola Rasayanam is a simple combination of Thamboola, Karpoora, Long pepper and Jeera in a sweet base of jaggery and honey.
It is very effective in clearing problematic Kapha from the respiratory tract. Thamboola Rasayanam soothes and freshens the throat and mouth, leaving behind a fragrant odor. Effectively used to relieve chronic cough and sore throat.

Sarkara (Saccharum officinarum)
Commonly known as sugarcane, its roots are used for the therapeutic purposes. It has the following properties aphrodisiac (arouse sexual desires), laxative, cooling, demulcent, antiseptic, and tonic. Sugarcane juice is very useful in jaundice conditions.
Thamboola (Piper Betel)
When the leaf is chewed, the mild anti-infective content in the leaf, freshen breath, and cleanses the mouth. Its constituents enter the blood directly via the buccal mucosa. As this is a direct way of entry into blood stream, it is the best way to deliver drugs into the blood stream during sickness. on chewing, the betel leaf induces salivation. Saliva fights bacteria in the mouth, and helps reduce plaque formation on teeth. Further, the Betel leaf contains compounds that act as heart beat regulators, relaxing the blood vessels. The leaf contains certain poly-phenols that not only fight microbes, but also act as pain relievers and anti-inflammatory agents. Recent studies have shown that the leaf contains tannins, sugar, diastases and an essential oil. A particular phenol called chavicol, present in it has powerful antiseptic properties.
Karpoora (Cinnamomum Camphora)
Camphor acts as a counter irritant and is therefore used topically to relieve pain and swelling. It causes numbness of sensory nerve endings of skin, thereby reliving pain and inflammation, and preventing skin redness. It helps to cure swelling of various body parts so give relief to joints pain.
Pippali (Piper longum)
Pippali is known as Tridoshic herb as it suits all body types. Thus regular consumption of Pippali in suggested quantity can help you to immune your body to quiet an extent. Pippali has Anti-microbial, Anti-inflammatory activity. Consumption of Pippali is said to exhibit anti spasmodic action and hypoglycaemic effect which is believed to lower blood sugar level. It is also reported to be antagonist in respiratory depression. Also due to its cooling post-digestive effect.
