Parpataka is a simple Ayurvedic herb belonging to the grass species. Deranged Pitta causes the body to heat up and fume from within. It causes the body temperature to go up and the body fluids to become non-functional and viscid. Parpatakarishtam is a traditional Pitta-pacifying combination that revives the body with its cool and astringent properties.

Arishtas are mildly alcoholic preparations. The sweet taste of Parpatakarishtam makes it palatable to kids and adults alike. The alcohol base makes it quick acting and efficient.

Dosage and Instructions

Adult: 25-30 ml Parpatakarishtam twice or thrice daily after food.Child: 10-15 ml Parpatakarishtam once or twice daily after food.

Key Ingredients

Parpataka (Fumaria Indica)

It is recommended for the treatment of fevers and blood disorders. Parpataka is an effective Ayurvedic herb used in fever, high Pitta conditions such as fever, gastritis, diarrhoea, excessive thirst, etc. Its famous herbal remedy Shadanga Paneeya (a drink made out of six herbs), is used in treating fever and associated thirst. F. indica showed hepatoprotective activity against carbon tetrachloride, paracetamol and rifampicin induced hepatotoxicity in albino rats. Its usage shows reduction in several LFT parameters indicating its potential as a hepatoprotective agent.

Dhataki (Woodfordia Fruticosa )

Dhataki or Dhawai is also known as Bahupuspika in Ayurveda. It is the flower of Dhataki that has significant importance in the traditional Indian medicine. According to Ayurveda, Dhataki is considered beneficial for female disorders such as menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding) and leucorrhea (white discharge from the vagina) due to its Kashaya (astringent) property. Dhataki is beneficial for skin problems (such as acne, pimples etc.) and might assist in wound healing due to its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Applying a paste of Dhataki powder along with honey or water on the skin helps in reducing swelling and steps up wound healing due to its Ropan (healing) and Sita(cold) properties.

Guluchi (Tinospora cordifolia)

It is a well-recognized and widely distributed traditional plant that is used successfully in Indian Ayurveda medicine. Guduchi helps increase the effectiveness of protective white blood cells which fight infection. The herb also augments immune responses to infections by influencing various immune effector cells and ensures early recovery. Its effective in infections in the respiratory system, skin, and soft tissues, infected wounds, especially in diabetic conditions and immune-compromised conditions. Tinospora cordifolia (TCF) has been reported to effectively prevent hepatotoxicity. However, there are an increasing number of cases revealing that Tinospora crispa (TCP) might have the negative effect of inducing hepatotoxicity.

Mustha (Cyperus rotundus)

It is scientifically known as Cyperus rotundus. Mustha helps improve digestion due to its Deepan and Pachan properties if taken in the recommended dosage.Mustha oil is an effective home remedy for managing stomach disorders due to its antispasmodic and carminative properties.

Daruharidra (Berberis aristata)

Also known as Haldi, this vibrant yellow coloured spice checks the worsening of Pitta doshas like jaundice. The powerful anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties of turmeric help in evading infections and treats various skin conditions. Tree Turmeric is a revered herb in Ayurvedic medicine. Possessing antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and antiseptic properties, the herb is used as a cholagogue, stomachic, laxative and diaphoretic.

Devadaru (Cedrus deodara)

Also is known as Cedrus deodara or Himalayan Cedar. It is very effective in neurological disorders, asthma, pruritus, infested wound. Devadaru is also effective in arthritis and headache. Deodar oil contains two major sesquiterpenoids a and b – himachalenes. Deodardione are also isolated from the essential oil. The oil shows invitro antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory activity.

Chavya (Piper chaba)

Chavya is scientifically known as Piper chaba. It is useful in treating indigestion, abdominal colic, worm infestation, poisoning, anorexia, productive cough, asthma, bronchitis, fever, diarrhoea, IBS, haemorrhoids, piles, fistula, chronic respiratory disorders, throat disorders and rheumatic conditions.

Chithraka(Plumbago zeylanica)

It is also known as Plumbago zeylanica. It is a potent digestive medicine used for treating a host of ailments, including indigestion, constipation, anorexia, abdominal distension, stomatitis, abdominal pain, etc. Imbued with digestive, caustic, stimulant and carminative properties, it eliminates harmful AMA toxins from the body, which has accumulated due to malabsorption of food particles.

Shunti (Zingiber officinalae)

Due to its strong flavour, Ginger is an essential ingredient in many Asian cuisines. Its therapeutic benefits have been recorded in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Ginger is a potent anti-nauseatic and is beneficial in treating upset stomach. Gingerol and shogaol, active components of Ginger, suppress gastric contractions. Both the fresh and dried rhizomes of Ginger suppress gastric secretion and reduce vomiting. The compounds 6-gingerol and 6-shogaol have several pharmacological properties, including antipyretic, analgesic, antitussive and hypotensive properties.

Gokshura (Tribulus terestris)

Being an amazing skin emollient, these prickly dried fruits of the Gokshura tree treats skin infections and inflammatory conditions. It also helps treat the various signs of ageing like wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles, etc. and bestows smooth, glowing, revitalized skin. It is used in Ayurvedic medicine to maintain efficient kidney and urinary functions and in reducing renal discomfort. It is effective in treating urinary tract disorders because it promotes the flow of urine and cools and soothes the membranes of the urinary tract. Land Caltrops has also been described as an aphrodisiac in Ayurveda.
