Asana (Pterocarpus Marsupium)

Asana is extensively used to manage skin problems like inflammation and urinary tract infections due to its antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties. Applying asana also reduces scalp conditions like dandruff and infections.

Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna)

Arjuna extracts have been widely used in Ayurvedic medicine. The bark of the tree has been used for several centuries for treating cardiovascular ailments. It has a host of other therapeutic benefits including treating asthma, hypertension and kidney stones. Arjuna, a deciduous tree native to India, can grow up to a height of 27 meters. The tree is also found in Myanmar and Sri Lanka.

Khadira (Acacia catechu)

Khadira is a very famous skin benefitting Ayurveda herb. Its botanical name is Acacia catechu and it belongs to Mimosoideae family. A famous Ayurveda skin tonic Khadirarishta is prepared with this herb as the main ingredient.

Raktachandana (Pterocarpus santalinus)

Red sandalwood is a tree. The wood at the center of the trunk (heartwood) is used as medicine. Red sandalwood is used for treating digestive tract problems, fluid retention, and coughs; and for “blood purification.”

Kutaja (Holarrhena antidysenterica)

Kutaja is a traditional Ayurvedic remedy that has potent anti-dysenteric, antidiarrheal, anti-amoebic action and hemostatic properties for treating and curing a horde of ailments including dysentery, diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome, malabsorption syndrome, intestinal infections and different bleeding disorders.

Katurohini (Picrorhiza kurroa)

Commonly known as Katuki. Used to treat skin conditions including eczema and vitiligo, a disorder that causes white patches on the skin. It is considered to be an important detoxifying or liver degenerating herb. Consumed with either warm water or ghee, it can naturally protect the body from seasonal dangers. You can also try adding powdered Katuki to your meals to boost your health.

Ativisha (Aconitum heterophyllum)

Atis is effective in maintaining a healthy digestive system due to its carminative property. It is also helpful in diarrhea as it inhibits the growth of pathogenic microorganisms due to its antibacterial activity. Atis might also aid in weight loss as it lowers the levels of triglycerides and increases levels of HDL- cholesterol (“good cholesterol”). As per Ayurveda, it helps manage the symptoms of diabetes due to its Tikta (bitter) and Kapha balancing properties. Atis powder when consumed with honey helps to manage cough and cold due to its Ushna (hot) nature and removes the accumulated mucus.

Patha (Cyclea peltata)

It is widely used in bone fracture and wound healing. Also used in the treatment of fever and act as a breast milk purifier. Commonly known as Indian Moonseed. Enhances immunity and prevents inflammation of the respiratory passages due to its immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Used in conditions including infertility, wound, hypertension, and skin diseases.

Vacha (Acorus calamus Linn)

Vacha is a traditional Indian medicinal herb, which is practiced to treat a wide range of health ailments, including neurological, gastrointestinal, respiratory, metabolic, kidney, and liver disorders. The root (rhizome) is used to make medicine. Despite safety concerns, calamus is used for gastrointestinal (GI) problems including ulcers, inflammation of the stomach lining (gastritis), intestinal gas (flatulence), upset stomach and loss of appetite (anorexia). The oil is used to treat stomach ailments and mental debility. Joint pains and aches resulting from rheumatism and arthritis are also relieved by Calamus oil.
