‘Abhaya’ or Terminalia chebula is one of ‘ Triphala’, the group of three berries indispensable in the manufacture of Ayurvedic medicines. The term ‘Abhaya’ means ‘that which gives refuge’. True to its name, Abhayarishtam in its many combinations gives the user refuge from a horde of diseases arising from a weak ‘Jatharagni’.

‘Agni’ or the agency responsible for digestion and metabolism is central to the concept of health and disease in Ayurveda. Abhayarishta is a potent yet simple combination that keeps this ‘Agni’ or digestive fire alive and burning bright in the body. For all of us, optimal health begins with proper food metabolism and a strong digestive system. When food is ingested in accordance with our individual physiological demands, it serves as medicine, balancing our metabolism and increasing vitality. However, we frequently endure abdominal aches due to varied reasons, and the most common symptoms associated would be constipation. Gas build-up in the belly or the urge for a bowel movement is the other common cause. Constipation is defined as a lack of more than three bowel motions per week.

Constipation can cause a variety of symptoms, including:

Having fewer than three bowel motions per week or bowel movements that are less frequent than usual. Pain in the abdomen, with or without bloating. Stools are firm, lumpy, and dry. Inability to empty your bowels entirely. Feeling as if something is obstructing your bowel movements. The need to squeeze bowels to get a bowel movement.

Abhayarishtam is a traditional Ayurvedic remedy for constipation which is comprised mostly of the herb ‘Haritaki,’ also known as Abhaya. That which treats ailments and makes the body shine is the meaning of the word ‘Haritaki.’ It’s no surprise that this drug is known as the “King of Ayurvedic Medicine” because of its wide range of applications.

Abhayarishtam, also known as Abhayarishta, is an Ayurvedic digestive syrup used to treat gas, indigestion, constipation, stomach worms, flatulence, and abdominal distension. Abhayarishtam is used to treat constipation and haemorrhoids, as well as to revitalise and tone the intestines while minimizing gas and cramping. It’s said to work as a digestive stimulant, promoting normal peristaltic movements in the colon and assisting with feces. Abhayarishtam is one of the best Ayurvedic medicines for acidity and constipation
